Carnival Miracle July 4 Cruise Review – Part Five: The Activities
By Dave | July 18, 2008
There were plenty of activities on this cruise. There’s not a whole lot to say about them, but they were all very good.
Our favorite activity this cruise was the trivia. We did quite a few trivia sessions. Some of them, off the top of my head, included general, history, sports, slogans, etc. A lot of them featured slides presented on a DVD presentation as opposed to just questions. That was definitely an improvement. Made it much more fun. But the traditional question-based trivias were fun as well. We even won one, and got a coveted ship on a stick!
There were plenty of bingo sessions as well. We played a few times, but never won. I don’t know, I’m not into bingo. Besides the fact that we never win and is very discouraging, it’s just not fun for me. I don’t know why. It’s just not for me. They’re pretty popular though. One thing I did like this cruise over past cruises is the fact that they didn’t dilly-dally around before each number. On past cruises, it would take forever for them to call out the numbers because they’d have to tell a story or a joke before/after each one. They cut down on that this time around, which was nice.
There were also plenty of the traditional activities: survivor, hairy chest competition, name that tune, etc. There were also some new ones (for me anyway): bobbing for apples, watermelon eating contest (for the 4th of July), match game, etc. Some of the other Carnival pasttimes were done away with, at least for this cruise, including the belly flop competition, which was always fun to watch.
As I mentioned in my staff review post, Josh the assistant cruise director was a lot of fun. Well, he hosted many of the activities onboard this cruise, and I must say, they were a lot more fun because of that. He did a lot of trivias as well as some of the other activities.
I know I kinda jumped around this post. But like I said, there wasn’t a whole lot to talk about so I included everything I could think of. More tomorrow…
