Theme Cruises

By Dave | June 30, 2008

This is an interesting aspect of cruising that I’m not sure it too well known. Did you know that you can go on cruises with specific themes? For instance, perhaps you’re interested in golfing, or maybe you’re a hardcore dieter. Well, it’s possible to find a cruise that has a golf theme. In a cruise like this, they might have different seminars and speakers onboard that are related to golf. And the ports will be big on golfing. Or if you’re a dieter, the food will be low fat, or maybe the desserts will be sugar free.

There are other types of theme cruises as well; those were just examples. There are also cruises for specific purposes. I’ve heard of different music groups having cruises, as well as various organizations. These are great ways to meet others who share your interests. So if you’re interested in meeting other people who share your interests, try checking out theme cruises. To start, try contacting your cruise line to see what themed cruises are available or upcoming.

And for those who don’t want to go on a theme cruise, there’s always the chance that your cruise will be a themed cruise. Theme cruises aren’t always advertised, so it’s always best to check with the cruise line prior to booking to make sure it’s a normal cruise. (Chances are it will be, but you never know.) I’ve read stories of people who booked a cruise, unaware that there was a theme to it. If you do get booked on a theme cruise without your knowledge though, just make the best of it. Ignore the themed activities and have a good time doing other stuff. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover a new interest!
