Music Brings Back Memories

By Dave | December 17, 2008

One of  the things I love to during on cruises is either walk around or people-watch while listening to my music. I can do it for hours, and it keeps me away from the buffet in between activities (although I do stroll that way every once in a while). For the past couple years, it has worked out that I would begin listening to a new album right before the cruise, so during the cruise I would listen to it a lot since the music was fresh (for me). For example, this past cruise, the “new” album for me was Meat Loaf’s “Welcome to the Neighborhood.” Actually, there were quite a few albums, but that’s not really important. Anyway, I’ve noticed that when I listen to those albums months later, it takes me back to the cruise.

So again relating to this past cruise, I started listening to “Welcome to the Neighborhood” again a couple days ago, and whenever I hear those songs, it brings me back to that July 4 cruise out of NYC. The ship, the people, the crew, the places. It’s all coming back to me (no pun intended, for those Meat fans out there). For me, this is my way of going back to those days out at sea.
