There are so many destinations to cruise to. From the scenic wilderness of Alaska to the historic cities in the Mediterranean, the possibilities are virtually endless. Throw the world cruises into the mix and you have the choice of going to even more exotic locations that normal cruises don’t go to. With all these options, [...]

Boardwalks, Zip Lines, and Water Shows, Oh My!

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Royal Caribbean announced a host of new features yesterday for its upcoming Oasis of the Seas. We already knew there would be a central park “neighborhood” as well as some other new features for this innovative class of ships. But announced yesterday were some more exciting features:

A boardwalk neighborhood. There will be everything from a [...]

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I applied for a RCI credit card today. Currently, I have a basic credit card that gives me nothing. I have good credit and always pay off my balances each month. So I figured, why not get something back? I didn’t really see any cash-back cards that appealed to me, so I tried to think [...]

New Cruisers Tip #5: The Life Boat Drill

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

You’re on deck sipping on your drink (or at the buffet like me) a couple hours after boarding your cruise ship for the first time, when a ship officer comes on the PA system and announces that in a little bit everyone will have to put on their life jackets and head for their “muster [...]

Up for Some Bingo?

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Way back when, I talked about some of the great things of cruising, including cruise food and cruise staff. After a rather lengthy hiatus from the opinion column, I’ve decided it’s time to share my views on another major segment of the cruise vacation: the shows and activities.
I’m not really into shows, but the ones [...]

Celebrating Occasions

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Our cruise leaves on the 4th of July. It would be awesome (although highly unlikely) that we stuck around NYC long enough to see fireworks. If not that, then sailing down the coast close enough to see them at the passing cities. Both scenarios are unlikely I think, but it would be cool. After all, [...]
